Celebrating 100 years!

A J Rawling has reached the milestone anniversary of 100 years in business in Ipswich Town Centre this year.

The practice, which originally opened in The Buttermarket in 1923, has proudly served the people of Suffolk and beyond for a century.

The town has obviously seen many changes over those years, but as an independent, family run practice we have weathered them all and survived so far due to our loyal patients, many of whom have been coming for generations.

Our aim has always been to incorporate the very best modern eye testing practice with old fashioned care and customer service.

We would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support and hope to be here to care for our patients vision for many years to come.

A J Rawling Shortlisted for Independent Practice of the Year 2023

AJ Rawling has been shortlisted as Independent Practice of the Year 2023 by the UK’s largest association representing independent opticians and optometrists.

We are one of just six practices in the UK to have been chosen to receive the accolade from business support group SightCare which celebrates and recognises the outstanding work of Independent Optician Practices in and around the UK.

SightCare said: “We carefully selected our shortlisted practices based on their outstanding achievements for their community and their dedication to their craft.”

Sue Christensen’s Retirement Lunch

In July the A J Rawling’s team wished a fond farewell to a well respected colleague Sue Christensen who had worked at the practice for many years.  We enjoyed a lovely lunch at Le Talbooth with the current team, our new optometrists Thanusha Moodliar and Susan Thomson, and the previous owner of the practice Chris Sims, who all wish her a very happy retirement.
